Good Night, Happy Dreams

Lately, it is becoming more and more difficult for teens to have the rest they need in order to focus in school. With balancing all the extra-curriculars, schoolwork, and jobs the chances of sleeping becomes very minimal. It is evident that the exhaustion of students is at the max, it is hard to deny when we see more and more kids with the bags forming under their eyes. There comes a moment when a day for a teenager is so saturated that it feels easier to just let go of all the things that remind them of school. The mental helath of these teens may be getting affected with the stress that builds up in their brain. I understand that great sacrifices and hard work come with future rewards, but it should also be considered that resting is a vital element for the success of our children.

“A good laugh and a long sleep are the two best cures for anything” – Irish proverb

“Faith…trust….and a little bit of pixie dust….”

Students face most of their lives feeling treated as a number. We feel that the only traits that are being measured are the percentages that we obtain through testing , but in reality we are never graded based upon other talents that show our creativity. I mean children are by far the most imaginative individuals. They have an extraordinary ability look at life in a different perspective. Some of us teenagers do not maintain the gift of imagination which is quite worrying for the future generations. Without imagination we lose the hope of changing the world through “happy thoughts”. We came to this world with a greater purpose than what many of our educators think we are meant to be. I would like to call for us teenagers to defend what we think is right for a better tomorrow.

Music for the Soul

Teenagers have grown to develop a love for music whether its rap, hip hop, R&B, rock, etc. The components of melodies seem to cure the pain of the heart to the point where all their stress can be released. Many singers have the power to transmit an important message to their audience. Probably this is why so many teens can relate to the lyrics of a song. It takes a whole journey in order to exactly determine what type of music defines us. An artist or the genre of music we listen to can allow us to develop our personalities in a way that was unimagined. Music generates emotions in people to the point where they feel empowered to change the world. Music has the beauty of uniting cultures, leaving behind the prejudice and hate.

Feel the music in you.

Family and School

For hispanic families keeping a close relationship with each other is important. I grew up feeling so attached to my mother, father, and brother whom have always been there for me. However, now in high school it seems like I rarely have time to spend with my loved ones. At times it becomes difficult to split my time up amongst the many things I have to do throughout the day. One thing is for sure, an education is a one time opportunity that must be taken advantage of. Life sometimes doesn’t give us second chances, therefore we must make the most of the privileges we have.😊
